As a flexible component placer for odd-shaped parts, it is powered by SM482 based on the SM471 platform. With a head with a gantry and 6 spindles, the SM481 can be used with up to 55 mm IC components.

It supports a polygon recognition algorithm to provide a highly efficient solution for irregular parts. The SM481 improves actual productivity and placement quality by using high-speed and high-precision electric-powered feeders. In addition, since it is designed to handle electrical feeders and pneumatic feeders, it maximizes operational convenience to the customer.

Achieved High-Speed Part Placement Speed of 28,000 CPH: Achieved the highest placement speed of the same class of chip placers by using a flying head mechanism with 6 spindles as well as optimized pickup/placement motion. Because it allows seamless part recognition after part removal by using the original On-the-Fly image recognition technology, the SM482 model increases the speed of part placement by reducing the movement time between pickup position and placement position and by reducing recognition time almost to zero. The newly upgraded placement accuracy calibration system automatically checks and corrects pickup point offset, head offset, C/V offset, etc., to allow reliable part placement.
Electric Driven High Speed and High Precision Feeder: Allows the combined use of 0603 / 2P / 4P with the function to automatically adjust pickup position between feeders to improve simultaneous pickup rate. Able to set different parts’ supply speeds to improve the stability of the supply part. Automatic feeding pitch recognition function and Compatible with SM pneumatic feeders.
The SM smart feeder is the world’s first feeder with Auto Splicing and Auto Loading functions. Ease of work and actual productivity are increased by automating the splicing process for the replacement of the actual part, which is usually done by hand. Use reels with specific features. Suitable for SM pneumatic feeders.

PCBs for longboards fitted with LEDs and featuring polygon recognition function.
The polygon recognition function takes the shape of a part to identify the whole shape of the part. Therefore, it provides optimized solutions to irregular and odd-shaped features.
Using a New Vacuum System: Achieves strengthened part extraction and reduces air consumption by using a vacuum pump. Air consumption shall not be less than 50Nl/min when using a vacuum pump.
